Blunderbusses are a type of Weapon in New World. Blunderbusses are ranged weapons that offers high-mobility coupled with potent close-to-mid range damage. They can be used in both melee and mid-ranged combat. Blunderbusses can be obtained in a number of ways: Through Crafting, found as random loot in chests and containers, as random drops by Enemies and Bosses or as rewards for completing Quests. Weapons provide many different options and approaches to combat, allowing the player to deal damage in different ways.
- The Blunderbuss was added as a new Weapon Type along with the Heart of Madness update.
Blunderbusses Overview
The Blunderbuss is a ranged weapon that offers high-mobility coupled with potent close-to-mid range damage. This weapon is good for both melee and mid-ranged combat, good for crowd control and mobility.
The Blunderbuss' damage scales with both Strength and Intelligence, being Strength as its primary modifier for its damage dealing capabilities and Intelligence as its secondary attribute.
Blunderbuss Skills
Blunderbusses feature two skill trees namely Containment and Chaos. Players can spend points on both Skill Trees, as you are not locked into any one tree and can spend your points however you wish as you make your way down the tree's ability line. Weapon Skills have a cap of level 20 while each Mastery's tree has 19 abilities that can be unlocked for a total of 38 Blunderbuss Skills.
The recommended roles for a Blunderbuss would be a Tank build. Incorporating a blunderbuss into a DPS works well, paring it with a Sword & Shield or Warhammer can give you a solid Tank build. This weapon also excels in burst damage, especially in PvP, but the play style will be heavily dependent on the abilities you have active. If you happen to pair this weapon with heavy crowd control weapon, it will help you set up your burst combos.
The recommended pairing for a Blunderbuss would be Swords & Shields, War Hammers, and Ice Gauntlets. The Sword & Shield is a good weapon for crowd control, this will help set up your Blunderbuss combinations. The weapon also scales heavily on strength making the pairing of these two work well. The War Hammer is also a good crowd control weapon, it will help you lock down opponents, before switching to your blunderbuss to deal massive damage. The Ice Gauntlet is also good for crowd control as it locks down opponents, similar to how the War Hammer works, you switch to your blunderbuss to deal damage. The Ice Gauntlet scales off of Intelligence so it works well to pair it with the Blunderbuss.
