Great Axes are a type of Weapon in New World. Great Axes are powerful massive Weapons and have the ability to pull in targets as well as allowing the player to easily close the distance with charging attacks. They can be obtained in a number of ways: Through Crafting, found as random loot in chests and containers, as random drops by Enemies and Bosses or as rewards for completing Quests. Weapons provide many different options and approaches to combat, allowing the player to deal damage in different ways.
New World Great Axe Overview
The Great Axe is a powerful 2-handed weapon that can excel in either powerful, single-target damage or wide, cleaving, area-of-effect attacks that work great for crowd control. The Great Axe can generate powerful vacuum effects that can pull in targets and can also allow players to chase down opponents with powerful charging attacks. The Great Axe is slightly more agile than the War Hammer but both make for powerful Weapons that trade speed for brute force.
The Great Axe's damage scales off of the player's Strength Attribute. Investing in this attribute will improve the player's effectiveness with all Great Axe weapons.
Great Axe Skills
Great Axes have two Masteries at their disposal. On one hand, players can level up the Reaper tree that relies on single-target combat, increasing movement speed and improving suvivability, while Mauler on the other hand, focuses on crowd control and area of effect abilities.
