Camp is an important mechanic when it comes to New World. Here's everything you need to know about how to unlock, use, and upgrade camps.

Camp in New World

How to make a camp

In order to make a camp, you have to unlock the ability by completing an early main quest (Man About Town etc.), requires 5 Green Wood and 1 Flint.

Then, find a flat ground, press Y to select the camp's position, and click your left mouse button to place. Hold E to add the materials, then move your character back to complete.

Once you've set up Camp, it'll act as a crafting point where you can craft all sorts of basic tools and items - including a Fishing Pole, but note that XP is not gained for items crafted at a camp. You can also rest at a Camp to heal up, and the Camp can acts as a respawn point when you die.

Note: You cannot place a camp within a landmark.

How to upgrade your Camp

To upgrade your camp, you must reach a certain level and complete a specific quest. Note that some of the quests have pre-requisites that must be completed before they become available to your character.
