Weight in New World is a mechanic that determines not only the amount of items and Equipment that you can carry, but also allows or limits certain abilities. This is important to take into account as not paying attention to the amount of weight you are currently carrying, may have an important effect on your playstyle.
All items have a Weight value, and this value is displayed alongside the weight icon.
Which are the weigh armor thresholds?
- Light: 0.0 -13.0
- Medium: 13.0 - 23.0
- Heavy: 23.0 - 50.0
How do I know in which category I fall into?
To know the weight of the equipment you are carrying, enter the inventory and check the scale next to the equipped items.
Weight Armor Guide for New World
New World categorizes your character based on the Armor your character is wearing, into Light, Medium, or Heavy. These categorizations gran different bonuses base on the type you fall into. Note that you don't have to wear only Light Armor to fall into the Light category, you may mix a Medium Armor piece and still fall into Light Armor category.
The game calculates this total number by adding the following:
Chest + Helm + Gloves + Legs + Boots = Armor Equip Load
It does not add Weapons equipped or items in the inventory.

Light
Light armor offers the least protection of the three available categories, in exchange for increased damage and healing, as well as massive mobility. The roll is the best dodge available to players. The weight limit is 13.0
+20% Increased damage
+30% Increased healing

Medium
Medium, as its name implies, offers a mix between Light and Heavy. Granting a few bonuses, although not as good, to the features of each of those categories. The weight limit is 23.0

10% bonus to Crowd Control duration

Heavy
Heavy is the preferred type for tank Builds, allowing you to endure more damage in exchange for losing DPS. The Sidestep is the worst dodge available in the game, but Heavy built characters rely more on blocking. From 23.0 weight onward, you enter Heavy Armor territory.

Inventory Weight
There is another separate calculus New World does regarding the total amount of Equipment or Items characters currently have. Players start the game with 200 carrying capacity in the inventory and can increase it by making progress through the game.
Bags
Once players reach level 10, they can complete the Quest Between Innkeeps and receive a Bag as a reward. At level 10, the first of three bag slots unlocks. The remaining two unlock at level 30 and 45 respectively. Bags allow players to extend the carrying capacity they can hold and some can be crafted. You can craft some Bags at the Outfitting Station.
How can I increase my carrying capacity?
Players can increase their inventory capacity by slotting bags into their equipment. There are three bags slots available for players, but they need to be unlocked first. Players can unlock the first one at level 10, second slot at level 30 and the third and final one at level 45.
How can I obtain Bags?
Bags can be crafted. They have to be crafted at an Outfitting Station and use the
Armoring skill.

Storage Size
The Storage Size is incredibly useful when you are adventuring, because it allows you to dumps good you don't need or aren't using at the moment. It's really helpful when dealing with vendors or Crafting Stations, because you don't have to carry the supplies you want to trade or work with in your pocket.
You can increase your Storage Size in New World. In order to do so, you need to increase your standing with the territory. When you do, you can choose the option to increase your storage by a certain percentage, among other bonuses available.
